Stainless steel tote tanks are available in sizes ranging from 180 gallons to 550 gallons. IBCs are [DOT/UN certified](https://metanousa.com/blog/why-you-need-fusible-vents-on-your-ss-ibcs#_ga=2.88004888.1696560251.1560284252-1777325278.1478093849) tanks that are ideal for transporting and storing liquids for a variety of industries, including [industrial chemicals](https://metanousa.com/industrial-chemicals-tote-tanks). To utilize the space efficiently when storing and shipping liquid materials, it’s important to familiarize yourself with common IBC tote dimensions. ### IBC Tote Dimensions & Sizes The most commonly requested capacities are the 350-gallon & 550-gallon tote tanks. One [350-gallon IBC](https://metanousa.com/350-gallon-ibc#_ga=2.88004888.1696560251.1560284252-1777325278.1478093849) holds approximately the same amount as [six 55-gallon drums](https://metanousa.com/blog/4-design-features-of-ibc-containers#_ga=2.88004888.1696560251.1560284252-1777325278.1478093849). The standard base dimensions for the ss350 are 42” x 48”,  with a height of 47”.  The [550-gallon tote](https://metanousa.com/550-gallon-ibc) also has a base dimension of 42” x 48”, with a height of 71”.  The tare weights are approximately 475 lbs. and 630 lbs., respectively. ### IBC Stacking One of the main advantages of using stainless steel tote tanks is the ability to stack one tank on top of the other.  This is a major space saving feature!  While the capacity may vary, the [same base dimension](https://metanousa.com/blog/are-there-standard-stainless-steel-ibc-dimensions) allows for easy stacking. 350-gallon [stainless](https://metanousa.com/ibc-faq)[ steel tote tanks](https://metanousa.com/ibc-faq) can be stacked four high when empty. They can also double stack in a trailer (as long as they are empty), maximizing the number of totes that can be transported at one time.   Here’s a quick reference guide to help you [find the right fit](https://www.metanousa.com/blog/bid/322097/How-to-Choose-a-Tote-Tank): | Standard Tank Sizes [![See SS IBC Details](https://no-cache.hubspot.com/cta/default/163881/bc580121-8c5e-4c50-9124-98b9690fce80.png)](https://cta-redirect.hubspot.com/cta/redirect/163881/bc580121-8c5e-4c50-9124-98b9690fce80) | | | | | | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | | Capacity (Gallons) | Length | Width | Height | Tare Weight (Pounds) | | 350 | 42" | 48" | 47" | 470 | | 550 | 42" | 48" | 71" | 640 | | Capacity (Gallons) | Length  | Width | Height | Tare Weight (Pounds) | | 180 | 42" | 48" | 27" | 350 | | 250 | 42" | 48" | 35" | 390 | | 300 | 42" | 48" | 41" | 435 | | 450 | 42" | 48" | 59" | 550 | ### Choosing an IBC Tote When [choosing an IBC tote](https://metanousa.com/shop-stainless-steel), you should consult a reputable tote tank provider to ensure that you get the best tote tank to suit your requirements.
